Nice guys

I'm up at my parents' place for the weekend. Nothing like Vodka and discussing the Butterfly Effect with mom on a Friday night to relax me!

But back to Tuesday...The Tom Petty show was good...not the best I've ever seen, but understand, I've been seeing him for a looongggg time. And I have the 1980 tour T-shirt to prove it!

(On the right is, of course, the NEW shirt.) I think the souvenir seller wanted to buy the oldie right off my back - but I don't preserve this baby in mothballs and unicorn tears for nothing!

So yeah, that's for all you posers in your reproduction tees. You can suck it. And as for you, ugly Jabba the Hutt-looking dude, sitting behind us in section 116... Thanks for trying to ruin the best part of the night for me. That would be Steve Winwood's opening set! Nice guy Winwood stole the show, and damn, if he doesn't still sound as good as he did when he was 16 years old. Can you say that, Jabba?

And just a tip, J-hole - when you're trying to impress the dudes sitting beside you and the poor smoking hottie sitting next to you, who, by the end of night resembled nothing so much as poor Princess Leia herself in the full-on copper slave girl costume (she even gave me a pleading look): Please, do NOT try and give a Rock History 101 lesson by saying Monsieur Winwood was in the "Ginger Davis Group." Mayhap you mean the "Spencer Davis Group," and you are simply getting lost from point A to point B which is Blind Faith, and getting stuck at Point Dumbass, and putting Cream in the equation and somehow getting a synapse explosion on drummer Ginger Baker?

Tool.

So anyway, I wanted to talk about another nice guy. From Canada! Because there are just so many nice guys from the Northern Provinces. After being down in the dumps all week, I received a wonderful, unexpected gift from Rhichard at Koigu - and no, it wasn't YARN, because please, how obvious, and I don't need anymore. No, Mr. Awesome send me the nicest, handwritten note, and must have remembered me talking his ear off about Canadian figure skaters at TNNA, because he sent me this with a note that he saw it and "Just knew you had to have it:"

Yes, yes I did. Especially the large color photos of Jeffrey Buttle! Oh thankyouthankyouthankyou, Rhichard. I have never been so touched, and cried like a little girl, as only a true figure skating fan can. Now, more than ever, I am so determined I am going to the Olympics in Vancouver!

Off to rest, relax, make more tiny hats and enjoy family cooking. If only every day could be a weekend.

Is there a rule out there that every concert requires a certain number of tools and a-holes to fill the venue? I think there must be, which is why I rarely venture out for live music these days. Three cheers for postal prezzies!
